Being of Irish decent, the Kelly family settled in South Africa in 1816. Garry was born in Swaziland in 1952 and was brought up in a family who loved the outdoors and traveled extensively across Africa. From a young boy, Garry had a passion for the outdoors and an enthusiasm for hunting. He has always held the belief that hunting has played, and will continue to play, a crucial role in the survival of African wildlife.
Garry’s hunting career began in October 1970, when he first moved up to Zululand to work as a ranger for Norman Deane Zululand Safaris. Garry’s reputation attracted international clientele, and within a few years he was recognised as one of South Africa’s leading Professional Hunters.
Fifty years on, Garry together with his sons Sean and Cullen, runs one of Africa’s largest continually operating, family hunting, safari and tourism companies.

Sean has been a licensed Professional Hunter with Garry Kelly Safaris since 2000 and in 2006 he acquired his hunting license in Tanzania. He has accompanied many Garry Kelly Safaris clients on safaris all over Africa, totaling 10 different African countries. Sean is a member of Africa Professional Hunting Association and is on the board. He is also a member of Custodians of Professional Hunting & Conservation of South Africa. Sean is an extremely accomplished ethical hunter and is very well respected amongst his peers and in the hunting community.

Cullen received his big game PH license in 2003 and joined Garry Kelly Safaris. He won Professional Hunter of the year 2 years in a row in 2011 and 2012. He has accompanied many of GKS clients on hunts all over Africa. Cullen is a member of Custodians of Professional Hunting of South Africa (CPHCSA) and African Professional Hunters Association (APHA). Cullen is an accomplished & passionate hunter & this is clear through the friendships he has built up over the years as well as the trophies his clients have taken.

Murray joined the Garry Kelly Safaris team back in 2013. It was his family game farm outside Botswana where his first love and respect for the bush started. After many year of hunting and it is clear that his passion for hunting and conservation has grown in leaps and bounds.
Murray has grown tremendously as a PH in the years he has been working for GKS and has built valuable friendships along the way. He is a member of CPHCSA (Custodians of Professional Hunting and Conservation South Africa) as well as a member of APHA (the African Hunting Association).
